As we expand our boutique firm to what now includes twenty attorneys, paralegals and staff, we are pleased to announce two new associate attorneys to Law & Stein. The addition of a new litigation attorney and a new estate planning attorney allows us to continue to be well positioned in providing our clients with exceptional service and superb representation, with outstanding results.
And we would be remiss if we didn’t share the accomplishments of a few of our exceptional litigation attorneys. So read on and join us in welcomes and kudos as we share this exciting news from Law & Stein.
Griffin Schindler is a dedicated and experienced litigation attorney defending clients against premises liability claims, including large and small industrial property owners, volunteer organizations, non-profits, large-scale manufacturers, commercial contractors, and other miscellaneous property owners. He knows that a successful defense in a premises liability action requires a rapid response, thorough review of the facts, and intensive knowledge of the relevant law. In addition to premises liability, Griffin provides counsel for the resolution of estate, trust, probate, and will disputes that arise due to incompetency, breach of fiduciary duties, or manipulation of a family member for personal financial gain (e.g., elder financial abuse). As an attorney familiar with alternative forms of dispute resolution, Griffin understands that the first and continuing goal of any dispute is to try avoiding a timely and costly trial, but should trial become inevitable, he maintains an unwavering focus on his client’s best interests, covering issues and providing resolutions in an expeditious and cost-conscious manner.
Prior to joining Law & Stein, Griffin worked for three different Orange County firms where he counseled clients in matters of civil litigation, premises liability, real estate law, and employment law. As a licensed patent attorney, he also handled numerous cases involving intellectual property law, including trademark law and copyright law. His diverse experience in the litigation and transactional arenas, coupled with his perfectionist persona, allows him to provide all his clients with the strongest case possible.
Griffin achieved his Juris Doctor from Chapman University, Orange, CA where he received CALI Awards in Environmental Justice, Art Law, and Comparative Law and Religion. He graduated on the Dean’s List from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA with a B.S. in Biology, where he also volunteered with Sursum Corda to mentor inner-city youth in after-school programs.
He lives in Orange County with his fiancée where they spend their weekends camping, reading, cooking, and hiking with their labradoodle, Strudel.
Monique Nevarez is an associate attorney with Law & Stein and advises clients in the complex areas of tax planning, business formation and creating a solid estate plan. Her background as a tax associate with KPMG provides Law & Stein clients experienced counsel on corporations, LLC’s, S Corp’s, and partnerships on tax matters including structuring corporate acquisitions and mergers with the utmost tax efficiency. Through an extensive and integrated analysis of her clients’ assets, she helps families reap the benefit of potentially minimizing income, property, and sales and use tax liabilities.
Monique’s knowledge of the ever changing and complex state tax laws, combined with her inherently compassionate, empathetic and positive approach makes her a favorite with her clients. She works collaboratively with families on wealth transfers involving trusts, succession planning, charitable contributions, and tax-exempt private foundations. She patiently demonstrates to families how her tax planning techniques will benefit them now and benefit their heirs after they are gone. While at KPMG, Monique worked extensively analyzing contracts and helping clients determine tax qualifications for the Research and Development Credit within the IRS Code.
Prior to KPMG, Monique gained experience through a local law firm and Chapman’s University’s Fowler Tax Court Clinic where she drafted documents for landowner liability cases, real estate development and property rights cases, and developed strategies for tax dispute cases with the IRS.
Monique Nevarez, Esq., earned her Juris Doctor from Chapman University, with an emphasis in Tax law and Business law. During law school she was also Vice President of the Tax Law Society and Treasurer of the St. Thomas More Society. While concurrently working as a certified In-Home Caretaker, she achieved the Dean’s List, graduating from California State University Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a Minor in Economics.
Monique loves her two dogs (a Frenchie and a Rat Terrier), her family, and her Peloton – spending time with all four on the weekends. She also admits she became a good cook during quarantine, with the ability to whip up some pretty amazing pasta dishes.
