Adam Barker is a tax attorney. He focuses his practice on estate planning, tax planning and tax controversies.
He advises high net worth clients on estate planning matters, implementing plans to protect assets from creditors and taxes in order to maximize wealth preservation for families across multiple generations. He also advises businesses on transactional matters, employing approaches and structures so that clients may arrange their affairs to minimize adverse tax consequences.
With respect to tax disputes, he has helped hundreds of clients navigate their tax problems with the IRS and other taxing authorities such as the Franchise Tax Board, the Board of Equalization and the Employment Development Department. Adam’s tax controversy practice involves representation in examinations and audits, representation in Appeals, litigation in the Tax Court, collection defense, offers in compromise, payment agreements, large-dollar penalty abatement, Trust Fund Recovery Penalty determinations, worker classifications and other similar matters.
